Grown-Up Girlfriends - My Friend Kim!

You know, God created women for relationships. He designed women to long for and strive for connection. Scripture offers us a look at precious female friendships. Ruth followed Naomi to a foreign country, leaving her family and giving up all she ever knew. The legacy that Naomi leaves through Ruth is amazing. What about Elizabeth and Mary? Just a few days after finding out she was carrying the Messiah, Mary went to Elizabeth's home and stayed with her for about three months. Elizabeth must have offered Mary so much wisdom and joy. In my reading, I've discovered that women crave relationships innately and are driven to be in relationships in ways that most men don't understand.

I want to tell you about my friend Kim. We've been friends for over 10 years. Kim has a servant's heart so we would often end up cleaning or serving in the church kitchen or end up together in the same group for a volunteer ministry and service.

Anytime I looked around for help, Kim would appear with a big smile and ready to work.

Kim loves my kids. I love Kim's kids! During Glennie's illness, Kim made herself available to help, listen, work and never gave a moment's notice to herself or her needs. Our relationship deepened when our precious Sarah was diagnosed with brain cancer. Kim stood with us and did anything she could to help us cope and help Sarah and her family.

Kim loves my dogs. Actually, if my dogs had to make a choice they just may choose Kim over me!!!! The other night, I had a meltdown about a mouse and Kim left her house to help me capture the mouse and secure my house.

My relationship and friendship with Kim promotes good physical health. We laugh, cry and we know that our friendship brings us hope, encouragement, love and grace to each other and those around us. ,

We laugh together. Everyone needs a friend to laugh with....to pray with...to cry with....I have that friendship with Kim. I pray that I am strong for her....I pray that our friendship will be solid, real and lasting for all the years to come. What a gift! Friendship....I love it and I love Kim!
