Let me tell you about my evening. Sit down and read.
Last evening I decided to clean my office at home. Glenn went to bed and I joyfully cleaned all of the excess papers, straightened the books, dusted the floors and cleaned my desk. Completed filing and then sat down in my big comfy chair to finish watching “Mystery Diagnosis”. About 10:30 PM while watching my TV, the two dogs (terriers that are bred for “mousing”) were sleeping soundly on their bed and the large comfy chair with the ottoman. Emmett and Louise were sound asleep….enjoying life. Suddenly, a movement occurred under the bookshelf that holds the TV. I look down at the floor/movement and a mouse was standing there, stopped, looking right at me. Well, I pulled my feet up to my chest (something I have not been able to do in a very long time) and started speaking to the two guard dogs from the side of my mouth. “Emmett, Louise, go get him….it’s a mouse…maybe several mice if he brought his friends…..Emmett…..Louise?????” Neither one moved. The mouse kind of stood around smelling the rug, wires, etc. so I picked up my cell phone and started calling the West Coast. Who could I call on the East Coast???? First person was Rebekah…message….I say…..”Hurry up call me, there is a mouse and I think he brought his friends with him”….now I call Glenn, Jr….message…I say….”Glenn, help me…..a mouse and several hundred of his friends are peeking out of the bookcase!” (have you ever seen Rattattioue?” Meanwhile, the mouse retreated under the bookcase, the dogs are continuing to bask in their spoiled, overindulged life and I call Amanda. She says “Really Mom?, a mouse….wow”. Ok, I resort to calling Kim…..”Hey Kim, are you in bed?” She says (by the way, she is my hero), “well, I’m just resting, what’s wrong?” I, of course, let out a wild explanation about being in a fetal position in a chair and hundreds of mice were trying to carry the chair out of the room. She says “I’ll be right over”. Did I tell you, Kim is my hero?” So, I muster the courage to leave the room and of course Emmett and Louise jump up to follow me out to the kitchen, licking each other’s faces, looking at me to say “are we getting something to eat, getting brushed….what?” Kim arrives and we put a glue trap, well, she puts the glue trap in the room where I saw him. We sit in the kitchen and I feed Kim anything she wants, ice cream, water, $100 bills, anything. We talk for about an hour and I calm down enough to walk Kim to the door and try to go to bed. I say to Kim “Do you think you could check the glue trap just in case?” Sure enough, the mouse was three legs on the trap and one leg on the floor moving around the room. I’m in the kitchen the dogs are standing in the living room watching the circus and Kim took a bag into the room and put the mouse in the bag. We put the bag into another bag and took the mouse to the trash. Kim left and I took the dogs upstairs to bed….after all, they were tired. By the way, Glenn slept through the entire ordeal.
I talked to Sarah this morning and I am getting a cat.
